Uniform and Belt Changes in 2011 We have changed two belts. We used to call them Green Tip (after Gold Belt) and Brown Tip (after Green Belt). Many of you have seen them in the classes over the past month. If you have an old Green Tip or old Brown Tip, you will be given your new belt in class next time you are in! You will also see some NEW UNIFORMS in the dojo. We started implementing the change from the top down. For those of you who have been to our Promotion Ceremonies you will understand the relationship of the colors and our character program. BLUE – INTEGRITY - Mr. O and Mr. Wellendorf (Grandmaster Instructors) will now be wearing all blue uniforms. The Master Instructors (6th, 7th and 8th degree Black Belts) will be wearing a Blue Uniform Top with white pants. RED – COURAGE -Next in line are the Chief Examiners. The Black Belts ranging from 3rd through 5th Degree are allowed to test students. So, to set them apart, they will be wearing all red uniforms. BLACK – THE ABSORPTION OF KNOWLEDGE - The other Black Belts (1st and 2nd) will be wearing all Black Uniforms. WHITE – WISDOM - Our students will start their journey in the martial arts as white belts with white uniforms. When they decide they are ready to be committed to the martial arts and to train for Black Belt, they enter the Black Belt Club or Black Belt training program. At this point, they will be allowed to wear Black Pants with their white top. This starts their journey to the all Black Uniform of the Black Belt. We know the biggest change is the uniform change. We have considered this for about 5 years. We had colored uniforms in the beginning of the Karate International history and went to all white about 10 years ago. We are basically combining some requests over the years from our Black Belts and our students, with our history of colored uniforms. We have already felt the excitement in the dojo about the uniforms and hope you enjoy the new process as well.
